Privacy Policy
1. Who We Are
RoadbookX is a mobile application for iOS operated by Newbold Tech, a sole proprietorship. Questions about this policy may be directed to brian.newbold@icloud.com.
2. Data We Collect
We do not operate servers, collect analytics, or receive any data from your device. RoadbookX functions entirely on-device. No account is required.
The app accesses the following on your device, with your permission:
- Location — GPS coordinates, speed, altitude, and heading, used to record routes and power Rally Nav. Collected only while the app is in use ("when in use" permission).
- Microphone — Audio for voice note recording at waypoints. Audio stays on your device in Application Support and is only transmitted when you explicitly share a route file.
- Speech Recognition — On-device transcription of voice memos via Apple's Speech framework. No audio is sent to RoadbookX servers (there are none).
3. Where Data Is Stored
All route data, waypoints, voice recordings, and preferences are stored locally in your device's
Application Support directory (RoadbookX/). Nothing is uploaded or synced
to the cloud by the app itself.
If you use iCloud Drive or device backup, your data may be included in those backups under Apple's standard privacy terms.
4. Sharing
Data only leaves your device when you explicitly share a route using the app's share sheet.
Shared files are .mtbrally (full fidelity, may include embedded audio) or
.gpx (track and waypoints, no audio). You control what you share and with whom.
5. Third-Party Services
RoadbookX uses Apple's frameworks (CoreLocation, AVFoundation, Speech, MapKit) subject to Apple's own privacy policies. No third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs are included.
6. Children
RoadbookX is not directed toward children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
7. Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date and may be presented within the app.
